With 20 years of experience under his belt, and 8 years as a full-time faculty member at the prestigious Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Loren Borud is not just one of the thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons of in the United States. Dr. Borud graduated from the prestigious Stanford University, where he obtained B.S. degrees in Physics and Biology with Phi Beta Kappa honors. After that, he embarked on his residency in general surgery at UCLA and training in plastic surgery and in hand/microsurgery at New York University’s Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. He has since then worked at UCLA Medical Center, West Los Angeles VA Hospital, Olive View Medical Center, Martin Luther King Drew Medical Center, Tisch Hospital, Bellevue Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is also a member of various medical organizations, such as the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons.
He has authored over 30 scientific publications, 8 book chapters, and his expertise in the field has led to him being invited to deliver lectures at national plastic surgery society meetings, as well as at international forums in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America.
Most recently, Dr. Borud serves as a consultant for bioengineering and medical companies. He has also taken time out from his medical practice in order to work on his book on the economics of plastic surgery.
